Application Instructions
Preparation
As with all systems the degree of preparation will determine the effectiveness of the product. Surfaces must be free from laitence, loose dust, dirt and debris. All contaminates should be removed by mechanical abrasion, preferably light grit blasting, or acid etching for the removal of laitence. New concrete should be at least 28 days old. Any damage to substrate should be rectified using for example, our Epoxy Mortar.
Mixing
Add the contents of the base and hardener containers together and mix thoroughly with a slow speed electric drill and suitable paddle, allowing to stand for 2 – 3 minutes before application. Up to 10 % of clean water may be added to the mixed material if required. Once mixed the coating will remain workable for 1 – 2 hours.
Application
Apply the mixed Hydrocote WD by brush, roller or airless spray at a wet film thickness of 100 microns over the surface area. Application temperature should be above 5oC. Air humidity should be less than 85%.
For general use two coats are recommended.
For areas of constant or heavier use three coats will be required. Equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with warm soapy water.
Health and Safety
Refer to the Hydrocote WD Health and Safety Data Sheet before using the product. It is advisable to wear impervious gloves when handling or applying Hydrocote WD. Any splashes on the skin must be immediately removed by washing with soap and warm water. Do not use solvents for this purpose.
Ensure adequate ventilation is available at all times, and avoid breathing vapour, using respirators in confined spaces.
It is the purchaser’s responsibility to ensure that the materials are stored and handled within the meaning of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
