Application Instructions

Preparation

As with all systems the degree of preparation will determine the effectiveness of the product.  Surfaces must be free from laitence, loose dust, dirt and debris.  All contaminates should be removed by mechanical abrasion, preferably light grit blasting.

New concrete should be at least 28 days old.  Any damage to substrate or incorrect falls should be rectified using for example, our Epoxy Mortar.

Mixing

Thoroughly mix the unit of the Hydrocote 400 base with a slow speed electric stirrer to disperse colour pigment.  When this has been achieved add one unit of Hydrocote 400 hardener and again mix thoroughly.   Once mixed use the material IMMEDIATELY as the pot life is limited.  Do not leave the mixed material in bulk as this will accelerate the curing process,  further shortening the pot life

Application

Specification 1– Typical Concrete;smooth coating required.

Apply Hydrocote 400 by brush or roller at a rate of 0.2 – 0.4 Kg per m2 dependant on surface,  allow to cure to tack dry condition (overnight at 15 – 250C). Apply second coat of Hydrocote 400 at a rate of 0.3 Kg per m2 using a suitable brush or roller.

Specification 2 – Smooth concrete; Heavy duty slip resistant coating required.

Apply Hydrocote 400 as in specification 1 above.  Apply second coat of Hydrocote 400 by brush or roller as above,  then quickly broadcast aggregate of the desired type and size into the wet coating,  typically 0.5 Kg of fine aggregate per m2.

Allow the coating to cure overnight,  remove excess and un – adhered aggregate then apply a top coat of Hydrocote 400 over the aggregate at a rate of 0.5 to 0.8 Kg per m2,  dependant upon aggregate density.  The aggregate will then be sealed in a sandwich of Hydrocote 400.

Equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with our GP solvent.

Health and Safety

Refer to the Hydrocote 400 Health and Safety Datasheet before using the product.  It is advisable to wear impervious gloves, protective clothing and eye protection,  when handling or applying Hydrocote 400.  Any splashes on the skin must be immediately removed by washing with soap and warm water.  Do not use solvents for this purpose.
